My Coryat on the weekend rerun was 26200 (29800 without negs). It originally aired on 11-30-11, and the first time I played my score was 26800.Mike Lewis has had a stranglehold on the game this week. By the way, my friend Carol saw in the paper he is married to the daughter of Omaha's mayor! Perhaps it's no surprise then that he (and I) got this one right today in We're Not in Kansas Anymore: "We're meeting in this SW Iowa city named for a meeting between Otoes & the Lewis & Clark expedition in 1804." Will Mike put a fifth win under his belt today?

Each contestant got another one right before the first break. Mike had 600 then, Meena had 400 and Sam had 1400. We were two clues shy of the usual 15 before the first break. Maybe because Mr. Trebek spoke so long about Mike before they started play? We did see all the clues though.
Did you guys know the response to this tweeted clue in Gymnastics? I guessed the response (and was wrong...and you won't find the evidence) to this clue that was on the show: "7 perfect scores helped this Romanian girl win 3 gold medals at the 1976 Olympics." Of course I got it right on the show.
Sam speaks something like 11 languages. I guess one of them isn't Greek, as he said "empathy" to this one in "Ath" and You Shall Receive: "From the Greek for 'learning,' it proves a challenge for many." (By the way, Mr. Trebek said "ath" will appear at the end of each correct response.
At the end of the round, Mike had 4600, Meena had 1800 and Sam had 5200.
Conveniently from Sam, who is from Kansas, the first category read in Double Jeopardy was We're Not in Kansas Anymore. I was happiest about the Nun category! Meena went there first. Her daughter loves Elvis, and she picked up this one in the category: "Mary Tyler Moore played a nun, & this singer played a doctor in 'Change of Habit,' his last feature film." It seemed to be a guess, though! It was for me too. I was surprised this one was a triple-stumper in the category (come one, people): "Susan Sarandon won an Oscar for playing this real-life nun in 'Dead Man Walking.'" I've seen Sr. Prejean speak on multiple occasions, and she is awesome.
This was naturally my favorite clue in We're Not in Kansas Anymore: "We're in Hastings in this state directly to the north." Mike got that one, and the next clue was the Daily Double in the same category. Mike had gotten 2 right in the round and had 5400. Meena had gotten the one right and had 2600. Sam had gotten one right and had 6400. Mr. Trebek pointed out that Mike was not in the lead. Mike wagered 2000 on this clue: "We're in this Missouri town visiting some of the unique shops like Pudd'n Heads & Aunt Polly's Treasures." Mike's incorrect response crossed my mind once again, but I changed it to another incorrect response.
Did you guys know this word means too thin, in Slim?: "This word meaning a bit too thin can also refer to the real facts, the inside story." I did get this one right.
Mike found the second Daily Double in Operatic Demises. There were 2 clues left on the board, and Mr. Trebek had given the minute-to-go warning with 7 clues left. Mike still trailed with 8600. He'd gotten 6 right and one wrong since his last Daily Double. Meena had gotten 3 right and one wrong and had 3800. Sam had gotten 7 right and one wrong and had 14400. Mike wagered 1000 on this clue and immediately looked like he wished he wagered more: "After delivering the head of John the Baptist, Herod orders his guards to crush her to death with their shields." This wound up being the last clue of the round.
The Final Jeopardy category was American Military Men. This was the clue: "In April 1951 he told Congress 'In war there can be no substitute for victory." All I could do was pick a name here, and it was wrong. Mr. Trebek said after the think music, "There are a few military men that come to mind, but the date was important in this clue." All 3 contestants got it right, though! Meena added 3000, Mike added 9599, and Sam added 4801, and somebody in the audience howled! He is your new champion.
