I know I promised we'd have our new website up today, but DNS switchovers are finicky and I'd rather do it on our slowest day -- which happens to be Saturday!
This week's contestants:
Elaine Baker, Garland, TX
Jarrett Cabell, Schaumburg, IL
Joyce Hshieh, Chicago, IL
Frankie Lynne, Atlanta, GA
Jon Rossiter, San Diego, CA
Brad Rudy, Marietta, GA
Rob Russell, Johnson City, TN
Nicole Stanley, Portland, OR
Alexandra Whitehill Smith, Columbia, SC
Kelly Wright, Rocky Ridge, MD
Shea Zellweger, Kansas City, MO
Today's contestants:
Joyce Hshieh, an actress and writer from Chicago, IL![]() | Elaine Barker, a home health caregiver from Garland, TX![]() | Rob Russell, a tutoring and testing director from Johnson City, TN (2-day champ, $43,600)![]() |
We mentioned the possibility of the retroactive jinx on Rob in discussing his ToC chances during last night's #JeopardyLivePanel; is that a thing, or will he win his 3rd?
This was a REALLY tough game with a lot of wrong answers. In fact, all 3 were in the red for awhile! (For the record: 3 players in the red going into Final did happen during the Art Fleming Jeopardy! - Art basically talked instead of Final Jeopardy!)
Meanwhile, Rob got negged on a crucial late-game Daily Double, after he pronounced "foliage""fȯi-lij\". It raised a lot of controversy on the Interwebs - and you'll note that I copied/pasted that pronounciation guide from the Merriam-Webster website!
For the record:
BTS tidbit: that "FOILAGE/FOLIAGE" problem made them stop the tape and have to listen to the playback for a good 10 min or so. #jeopardy

Scores going into Final Jeopardy!:
Joyce 4800
Elaine 4100
Rob 3000
Final Jeopardy! category: U.S. HISTORY
Final Jeopardy! clue: It's the only odd-numbered year in which a U.S. Presidential Election has been held
Rob 3000 - 2999 = 1 (1787)
Elaine 4100 - 701 = 3399 (1841)
Joyce 4800 + 3401 = 8201
(Sorry about the jinx, Rob!). Additionally, it's probably a good thing that Final worked out the way it did. It's been awhile since a contestant has had to have been brought back!
