STATE CAPITAL HEADQUARTERS

ICE DANCING
Thomas, working bottom-to-top, found the Daily Double in the middle of STATE CAPITAL HEADQUARTERS! Scores:
Thomas: $1,800
Alvin $0
Erin $0
Thomas bet $1,800. His clue: 3M. His correct response put him at $3,600! His running the category put him at $4,200
An aside: I wonder if there's ever been a clue that is one character in length?
Thomas seemed to enjoy hopping all over the board! (Harumph.)
Scores after 15:
Thomas $7,400
Erin $2,800
Alvin $800
Coming out of the break, Erin did quite well on the buzzer, and seemed to know her ice dancing, too! I'm also pretty sure that Jason Keller enjoyed that category, too! Scores after 30:
Thomas $10,400
Erin $7,200
Alvin $200
DJ! round categories:
THE CROSS
WOMEN AUTHORS
GEOGRAPHIC ETYMOLOGY
TRIPLE TALK SONGS
OH "NO"
DRUNK HISTORY
GEOGRAPHIC ETYMOLOGY $1600 (This noted prince consort has the gateway city to Northern Saskatchewan named for him-- what an honor!) was put in the can by Erin! The $1200 had the Daily Double! Scores:
Thomas $11,600
Erin $9,200
Alvin $1,000
Erin bet $3,800. Her clue: Making up 2 Spanish provinces, they get their name from Latin for "islands of dogs", & the "dogs" may have been seals. Her correct response put her at $13,000!
Alvin got into a run of his own and then found the final Daily Double under DRUNK HISTORY $1600! Scores:
Erin $15,800
Thomas $10,800
Alvin $7,800
Alvin bet $7,500. His clue: This U.S. artist's 1945 marriage to Lee Krasner was a stabilizing factor he needed against his drinking. His correct response put him at $15,300!
Scores going into Final:
Erin $23,400
Alvin $16,100
Thomas $10,000
Before seeing this Final, I was informed that I needed to turn in my computer for a few seconds. I'm not entirely sure what this means.
(In case anyone's curious: I think Erin should bet $8,801. Alvin has a choice of "less than $1500" or "more than $3,901" -- but should go with the latter to defend against Thomas. And Thomas might as well bet everything to maximize winnings because he needs to be right and Erin needs to be wrong.)
FJ! category: U.S. STATES
FJ! clue: It's the only state name that can be typed using the letters on only one row of the standard keyboard
Thomas 10000 - 6101 = 3899
Alvin 16100 + 16000 = 32100
Erin 23400 - 9000 = 14400
So big props to Alvin for his getting this one right -- that's a tough one to get in 30 seconds! He'll be back tomorrow to defend!
