Of course, Ben was mouthing something just as I snapped the picture.
If you missed Game 1, Ben turned the scores on its ear by doubling up, via his 12th consecutive correct response in Final Jeopardy!
What will happen today?
Scores from Game 1:
Ben Ingram $25,600
Arthur Chu $15,600
Julia Collins $6,400

Ben started at ADAM $600. ADAM $800 had the Daily Double. Arthur got the first clue, went to $800, and bet $1,000 on his Daily Double.
His clue: In Genesis 3:19 God tells Adam he'll return to dust; in Exodus 8:17, this brother's rod turns dust to lice. Arthur's correct response put him at $1,600.
Ben then went 4/5 in STATE PARKS to take a lead!
After Julia answered a question on "Magic Mike":
Alex: "That brought a big smile to your face!"
Julia: "One more awkward thing you've said on the show."
I have to agree with Julia!
At the first first break, the scores were:
Ben $3,200
Arthur $1,800
Julia $200
All 3 champions thanked various support that they received over their runs! Arthur name-checked the Ken Jennings term "Chu-phoria"!
Back to the game, Arthur had the best time on the buzzer over the last 15 clues and took the lead by the end of the round!
Arthur $4,200
Ben $3,800
Julia $1,200

I'm guessing most of the O'Brien's regulars were screaming at the Triple Stumper at SONG TITLE $800 (John Cougar Mellencamp (1987) & The Runwaways (1976))
Amazingly, Julia started Daily Double hunting! However, Arthur went to McWRITERS $1600 -- which had the Daily Double! Scores:
Arthur $7,000
Julia $4,000
Ben $3,800
Arthur bet $7,000. His clue: In 1962, Marshall McLuhan wrote, "Electronic independence recreates the world in the image of a global" this. Shockingly -- at least to me -- Arthur said "web" and fell to $0.
PEAKS & VALLEYS $1600 had the final Daily Double. Arthur got to that one too! Scores:
Julia $7,600
Ben $4,600
Arthur $2,800
Arthur went $2,800. The Barossa Valley just north of this capital of South Australia is known for its vineyards & great wines. Arthur said the correct response and went to $5,600.
There were a lot of situations where Julia just seemed unable to pull correct responses!
Arthur's buzzer mojo got him close to the lead by the end of the round! Scores going into Final:
Arthur $10,400
Julia $7,600
Ben $6,600
FJ! category: SHAKESPEAREAN GEOGRAPHY
Ben needs to bet $4,201 to win.
Arthur needs to get the question right, and have Ben miss, to win. Julia can not win.
Arthur keeps Julia locked out by betting $4,199 or fewer. If Ben is wrong, he finishes at $27,999. Arthur thus needs to bet to get to at least $28,000, so anything between $2,000 and $4,199 works.
Julia might as well bet everything.
FJ! clue: Of the 5 cities mentioned in Shakespeare play titles, it's the only one not found in Europe
Ben 6600 - 4201 = 2399 + 27999
Julia 7600 - 2000 = 5600 + 6400 = 12000
Arthur 10400 - 10400 = 0 + 15600 = 15600
And Ben Ingram is the $250,000 champion! Arthur gets $100,000, and Julia $50,000.
Congratulations to all three!
We'll be doing our recap interviews on Monday at 7 Eastern!
